Both Wide Throw/Swing Clear Butt
Hinges are used for medium weight doors of low frequency. While the Wide
throw hinge sets the pivot point out away from the door allowing the
door to open 180 degrees, Swing clear hinges are used wherever doors are
required to swing completely clear of the openings , when opened to 95
degrees. Swing Clears Hinges are reversible for left or right swinging
doors and and these hinges improve clearance for wheelchairs, carts, and
other large objects as the hinges help the door to open both sides.
Wide throw hinges are usually used when doors are set in a wide jamb.
Almost all Wide Throw/Swing Clear Butt Hinges are made of steel. Other
materials are also used like:
- Brass
- Aluminum
- Iron
- Stainless Steel
These hinges are fixed on the doors with wood screws and machine
screws.
These hinges are available in various sizes and finishes. Some of the
common finishes are as follows:
- Bright brass plated
- Antique bronze, oiled
- Satin chrome plated
- Satin brass plated
- Primed for painting
- Antique finish
