T-Hinges or Tee Hinges are used on
doors as well as on gates and cabinet lids. Since these hinges are
shaped like the letter-T, these are so called. The vertical strap of the
hinge is secured to the frame while the horizontal strap is secured to
the door.
The T-Hinges can be used for wood, metal or vinyl gates or doors. The
size of the hinge varies but the usual size measures around 7-3/4"
tall by 9" wide. Weight of the hinge depend on the weight of the
door or the gate on which it is fixed. All T- Hinges have internal
stainless steel torsion spring which can be incrementally adjustable
with a screwdriver.
The T- hinge is flush mounted and not recessed into the door. You use
the plain kind where you care more about function than about good looks.
Tee hinges are commonly used on garage doors, to hinge chest lids, and
for other utility jobs. Ornamental Tee-hinges are also available.
