It is basically a locking and unlocking arrangement for a door, in which the locking mechanism is operated from a remote location. The system is designed for higher security of home, offices, hotels, etc. Using this system, an individual can gain entry to a room or some other area via a wireless device or sensor.

Components of the System
The remote door access system operates by the co-ordination of several individual components. The system comprise a receiver, a wireless device with a power supply, an input device, a processor, memory, a biometric sensor, and a transmitter that work in harmony ensuring proper working of the door access system.

Working Principle
The system provides a database on the memory. The database comprise a list of authorized users. Each authorized user has a biometric value along with a set of command options associated therewith. Each command option in turn has a command code with them that receives a biometric input value through the biometric sensor. A remote door access system also consists of telephone receiver/DTMF decoder circuitry as well as a wireless radio frequency or infrared sensor. The circuitry and the wireless sensor enable the system to be activated either by a portable short range transmitter or by any telephone. Usually the telephone circuitry or handset is installed separately on the door so that it can be used with different means of cellular or satellite communications systems. However, speech recognition system can also be used as an alternative to DTMF and/or radio frequency or infrared activation. This system helps to interpret voice commands transmitted over the network or picked up by a microphone.
